We damage our environment by simple things like pollution, using aerosols, lighting coal fires, letting sewers run into the sea, car fumes, even cutting down trees. Acid rain is made because the rain falls through dirty city air, but acid rain can stop trees growing, and kill fish and other pond life. All these things damages nature and all the creatures, even us, it is our world, our ecology. Ecology is about the balance of nature, clean sea water, means healthy fish, which are good for us to eat. Every little thing that we do can have a big impact in nature. One way we can help the environment is by reducing the amount of rubbish we put in landfill sites and tips. Every
time we put more rubbish in our bins, it goes to the local rubbish tip or landfill site. All the nasty things in the rubbish can poison or pollute our air, the ground, and rivers nearby. This can kill animals and insects, fish and even trees. It is up to us to help by being sensible about what we need to throw away. It takes hundreds of years for nature to clean up the mess we leave behind. This is why it is important for us to try to make less mess. |
